The Artist
David Samson Original Jewelry Designs
Dimensionally Impressive, Sculpturally Profound
David Samson is a jewelry designer, as well as a jewelry artist. He feels that the two co-mingle, yet acknowledges there is a difference between them. David has extensive gemological knowledge as a Diamonds Graduate in residence at G.I.A., graduating at the top of his class with a 99%, and has over 20 years experience buying gems from sources all over the world.

As a designer, he feels it is necessary to be an accomplished jeweler, that is, one who actually has hands on experience creating and fabricating jewelry at a jewelry bench. This way, the jewelry designer knows what will or will not work in a design. David has been a bench jeweler for over 25 years with a full range of experience in all aspects of basic and advanced jewelry skills. It is surprising to him  that  many designers have never held a jewelers torch or polished gold to a gleaming finish.

"As a jewelry artist I feel the freedom to express myself through the medium of precious metals and gems" shares David. "Using my jewelry skills gives me the added freedom to explore and reinvent. I also love to create completely from my experience in a fresh, new, never before tried method." David explains, "It is often the inviting beauty of the gems that actually inspire me and influence the outcome of much of what I do. I love working with the unusual, gems with an uncommon sparkle or intense color, that which is not typically seen."

These gems represent such a small precentage of available material that most of the jewelry David designs is limited to just a few, if not just one of a kind.

Using his gemological skills enables David to explore in other ways as well.
"I enjoy creative color combinations. I may combine the intense reds of gem Rubellite and a fine hand carved inlay opal, creating a stunning look."

David personally invites you to look carefully at his many creations in the
Jewelry Gallery . You will find exciting designs and top quality gems, artistically orchestrated, utilizing the combinations of expertise David has aquired. He hopes you enjoy what he has made as much as he has enjoyed creating it.
